Antonesi, Mănăstirea Humorului, Romania, 2009

We have two cows. Without the cows we could not survive. One of them gives milk, the other one doesn’t, it will soon calve. I sell the milk in Gura Humorului. I sell it in two-liter-bottles. For one bottle I get four Lei, as much as one Euro. Would I sell the milk to the public dairy factory I would only get a fourth of that. I take the bus to Gura Humorului which costs as much as I get for one bottle. I sell the milk and buy salami, oil, tomatoes and olives.
My husband had an eye surgery. The surgery cost money, and the car drive to the hospital in Iaşi. We sold a cow for that.
